In the mirror she appears, layer-by-layer; I don her like armour.

Paints, greases, powders, and creams; a wall of fictions against cold appraisal, a shield of chemical lies against judgement.

I construct her for the world on that unwanted and undesirable scaffolding I call myself.

Tinted contacts and tinted hair, lifted shoes and push-up bra; she defies the limitations of my anatomy and my self-esteem.

She is my reflection, she is not me.

Five Sentence Fiction – Lillie McFerrin

What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week I will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word.

This week’s word: LIPSTICK

Usual story guys: click here to read everyone’s stories, and let me know what you think.

Because I occasionally get asked – If you liked it, please feel free to share this by clicking one of the share buttons below, or hitting the ‘reblog’ button. Most bloggers love to have their stuff shared and I’m certainly no exception. 🙂

Cheers

    1. Thanks:)

I actually have read yours and liked it – the murderer/investigator twist was well done- I just can’t seem to comment? Not sure what the problem is…
      Anyway, well done.
